BiographyClara SplittstoesserGENEVA - Clara Mae (Quinnell) Splittstoesser, passed away Saturday (Jan. 7, 2012 ) in her home in Geneva, NY. Clara was born January 19, 1929, in Miles City, Montana and was a daughter of the late Fred and the late Clara (Collett) Quinnell. Clara received her Bachelor of Science in Bacteriology from Montana State College in 1950, and her Master of Science (1951) and PhD (1956) in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Following two years as a pest-doctoral trainee at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Center, Clara became an insect pathologist in the Entomology Department at the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, NY. Clara authored a number of research papers while at the Experimental Station. Clara married Don F. Splittstoesser on March 28, 1959. Was an avid musician who enfoyed playing the piano, violin, and ukulele. Clara was a supporter of the Geneva Concert Series and many other local arts and music societies, and was a member of the Catharine Foster Hopkins Art Reading club since 1977.
