Obituary of Sara J. Tolan

Sara J. Tolan GENEVA- Sara J. Tolan, 90, passed away peacefully on Fri. (Sept. 23, 2016), at the Geneva Living Center North. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tues. (Sept. 27), at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Geneva. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Contributions may be directed to a charity of one's choice. Sara was born on May 17, 1926, in Geneva and was a daughter of the late Peter and Estelle (Carpenter) Johnson. She graduated from the Rochester General School of Nursing. Sara worked as a Registered Nurse at Geneva General Hospital and retired from the Hobart Library. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 396 and St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Geneva. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth (John) VanDeMoortel of Geneva; sons, Joseph F. (Von) Tolan of TX and Thomas J. (Amy) Tolan, Jr. of MD; grandchildren, David, Daniel, Jacquie, Jay, Katie and John, Jr.; 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Sara was predeceased by her husband, Thomas J. Tolan in 2007 and twin sister, Mary Elizabeth Johnson.
