Obituary of Frederick F. Salone

Frederick "Boots" F. Salone, Jr. GENEVA- Frederick "Boots" F. Salone, Jr., 81, passed away peacefully on Sun. (Nov. 13, 2016), at Geneva General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thurs. (Nov. 17), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home 28 Genesee St. Geneva. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Fri. (Nov. 18), at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Geneva. Full military honors will follow in the church. Contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, 1120 South Goodman St. Rochester, NY 14620. Boots was born on May 21, 1935, in Geneva and was a son of the late Frederick F. and Alice (Stoneback) Salone, Sr. He served his country in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958. Boots married the love of his life, Theresa Li Destri and together they raised a beautiful family and shared 57 years of marriage. He owned and operated two family grocery stores in Geneva and retired from the Seneca Army Depot in 1993. Boots was a member of the American Legion Post 396 and St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Geneva. He was a former member of the Sons of Italy. Boots was an avid golfer, bowler, fisherman and card player. He cheered for the New York Yankees and other New York sports teams. Boots enjoyed spending time at Big Oak Golf Course and playing cards with his friends. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Theresa (Li Destri) Salone of Geneva; daughters, Shelly Salone of Geneva, Cheryl (Matt) Farley of Nashville, TN and Kristie Salone of Geneva; sons, Craig (Robin) Salone of Geneva, Phillip (Amy Vogt) Salone of Geneva, Kevin (Shawn) Salone of Newark and Kyle (Kimberly) Salone of Acworth, GA; sisters, Anna "Ginger" Callahan of Phoenixville, PA and Stephanie (Donald) Calabrese of Geneva; brother, Stephen (Sandra) Salone of Waterloo; sisters-in-law, Ann Salone of Geneva, Anna (Dave) Lewis of Dallas, TX, Rosemary (Cam) Ingram of Geneva and Patricia (Richard) LaVoie of Geneva; brother-in-law, Santo (Barbara) Li Destri of Geneva; grandchildren, Francis McCormack, Christopher Salone, Jessica (Christopher) Forsythe , Thomas (Tina) Guererri and Emma Farley, Alex, Taylor and Parker Salone, Willie (Brittany) Smallwood, Krystle Smallwood and Karena Collins, Saige and Sydney Salone, Kyle (Laura) Salone, Jr., Anthony Salone and Gabriel Salone; great-grandchildren, Franchesca McCormack, Jacob Guererri, Wale', A'Niyah and Kalisi Smallwood and Alaynah Salone; several nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Boots was predeceased by his brother, Rodney A. Salone; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anthony and Rose Li Destri.
