WATERLOO- Ignacio Mateo, Jr, 74, passed away peacefully on Wednesday (March 5, 2025) at Geneva General Hospital with his family at his side. Family and friends may attend a celebration of life from 2 pm to 6 pm Saturday (March 8) at the Waterloo Moose Lodge.

Ignacio, 74, was born in Puerto Rico and was a son of the late Ignacio Mateo, Sr and Justina (Rolon) Mateo. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, riding ATV's, motorcycle riding and breaking horses in. Ignacio loved to work hard.

He is survived by his son Erek (Jessica) Mateo, daughters Angela (Jeff Mattoon) Mateo, Justina Mateo, Carmen Mateo; brothers Frank (Karen) Mateo and Johnny Mateo; sisters Evelyn Munoz and Olga Mateo; grandchildren Ronnie and Marlee Mateo, Elena Mateo, Jeffery, Alivia, Joseph, Jason, Jacob Mattoon and Benito Mateo-Figueroa; a host of nieces and nephews.

Ignacio is predeceased by his son Ignacio Ronald Mateo, III; brothers Raymond, Catalino, Jose, Rafael and Thomas; sisters Gloria Chavez and Anna Valentin.
