Lorenza Alba "Lorie" Augustine Obituary

Lorenza "Lorie" Augustine, 90, of Clifton Springs, went peacefully home to the Lord on Monday May 12th, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Friends and family may call from 10 am to 12 pm on Thursday, May 15 at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home, LLC, 28 Genesee St., Geneva. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow, beginning at 1 pm at St. Francis De Sales Roman Catholic Church, 130 Exchange St. Geneva, NY. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Contributions in Lorie's memory may be made to Our Lady of Peace Parish, 130 Exchange St. Geneva, NY, or the charity of one's choice.

Lorie was born on October 22, 1934 to Albert and Beatrice (Albino) Antinelli in Geneva, NY. She graduated as Salutatorian of the class of 1952 from Geneva High School. She then began working as a teller at Lincoln Rochester Trust Company, and continued her banking career for several years. While working she met the love of her life, Joseph "Big Joe" Augustine, and the two wed on September 8th, 1962 in Geneva, NY. Lorie enjoyed banking and working with the public, and continued her banking career until their son Joseph was born in 1964. She would go on to have another son, Neil in 1966, and finally a daughter, Leigh, in 1970. Her family was now complete.

After raising her children and sending them off to school, Lorie returned to the world of banking at Geneva Federal Savings and Loan, and eventually concluded her career at the Geneva Housing Authority as an Administrative Assistant.

Lorie's greatest achievement and joy was watching her children grow and succeed in the classroom and on the playing field. She attended every event, whether it be a small honor ceremony or major college tournament occurring in another state. She was filled with pride and always ready to boast of their accomplishments. Later, when her six grandchildren were born, she replayed this same blissfulness over and over again as she watched them doing all the things they love and earning the same success as their parents.

Lorie spent a lot of time cooking and baking. Even up until her last years, you could always count on her at every holiday to have an endless array of cookies and baked goods, along with the most delightful Italian dishes one could imagine. No one ever left hungry. All of her kids and grandkids and their friends will attest that nothing could beat the way Nonnie made things. Luckily she passed her skills onto her kids and grandkids, and many have her gift of lovingly creating the most delectable meals, all based on her teachings.

Along with her sister Carolyn, who as a baby she lovingly nicknamed, "Poppy", Lorie would have daily phone talks to check in and stay up to date on everything that was new and important. She looked forward to this each morning and always made sure to check in again at night before going to sleep. Lorie and Poppy were always together, and most often people were unable to tell them apart. One was often called by the other's name when in a store or out and about, but it was all well. They grew up together nearly like twins, only being 16 months apart in age.

Recently, Lorie was overjoyed at the thought of becoming a great-grandma for the first time this coming August, and also thrilled to watch her grandson become a rising star on the Notre Dame football team. She will surely be watching over them from above with loving guidance.

Lorie is survived by her three children, Joseph (Christine) Augustine, Neil (Kim) Augustine, and Leigh (John) Consolie, brother Albert (Eleanor) Antinelli and sister Carolyn Antinelli, grandchildren, Alexa, Daniel, Sarah and Matty Augustine, Sofia (John) Hicks and Luke Lawson, many caring nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Beatrice Antinelli, loving husband Joseph Augustine, son-in-law Ronald Lawson, Jr., and several brothers and sisters in law.
