Leroy, my fine GHS classmate, class of 1966, was a friend though, as with most classmates, I never knew him well. Most of my acquaintance with Leroy, as I recall, was from gym class and our shared time on the wrestling mats during wrestling practice. [ That was the "boys" gym class ...if anyone is wondering. ]
I read with interest his obituary, never doubting that he was an outstanding contributor to his community.
May he rest in peace. Hopefully others have & will continue to step up to fill vacancies caused by his death.
My condolences are sincerely given to family and friends of Leroy Carter.
Sincerely,
Brian Whitaker,
another who worked for years in Rochester NY & who also contributed many hours as a volunteer

Thank you to everyone who sent love and condolences. The Carter family really appreciates everything that everyone has done. As many times as I can remember my dad was always willing to help and do anything for many people and he was amazing man that helped not only his children but many children around Rochester as a coach, mentor and as many called him DAD. He was the best anyone can ask for. An all out amazing person. I LOVE YOU DAD!!! IM GOING TO MISS YOU SO MUCH!!!! KEEP A EYE ON US ALL FROM ABOVE!!! YOUR LOVING SON- Maurice Carter

My deepest condolences and prayers to all of Leroy's family.
We were classmates at Geneva High, and Leroy was such a sweet young man. He was loved by many who knew what a stand up guy he was.
I cherish the memories and fun conversations we've had over the years, especially at a class picnic I attended a few years ago. He also had a great sense of humor!
RIP, dear Leroy.

My deepest Condolences to the Carter Family.
Deacon Carter was not only a great man, but also a true friend. I had the blessing of meeting him at First Genesis Baptist Church, where he welcomed me with open arms when I first joined. His powerful voice filled the sanctuary, and I always looked forward to hearing him sing — it lifted spirits and touched hearts.
When I was injured and on crutches, Deacon Carter never failed to check on me. With his signature humor, he affectionately gave me the nickname “Crutch,” and that simple act brought light and laughter during a difficult time.
He always had a way of making people feel seen, supported, and loved. I’ll forever be grateful for the talks, the laughter, the jokes, and the friendship he gave so freely to me and my family.
Deacon Carter, you will be deeply missed, but your legacy of kindness and joy lives on in all of us who were lucky enough to know you.
Your friend Brenda and Ayesha Myers, AKA “Crutch”
