Deacon Leroy Carter of Rochester, NY, was born on March 14, 1947, in Geneva, NY, to Luvenia (Anderson) Carter and James D. Carter. Deacon Carter was a proud graduate of Geneva High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Business from Alfred University. He spent many dedicated years at Eastman Kodak Company, but his greatest passion was serving his community, especially its youth. He devoted countless hours as a Coach and later President of the Rochester Rams Pop Warner team, and also held several leadership roles with the Irondequoit Jr. Lancers Football and Cheer Program. His love for the youth showed in the way he worked to keep them safe, supported, and involved in positive activities that built confidence discipline and purpose. A man of deep faith, Deacon Carter served as a Deacon at First Genesis Baptist Church in Rochester. His devotion to church and service ran deep even as a young man, he contributed to the building of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Geneva during the 1950s. He lived his faith daily through love, humility, and care for others. Deacon Carter loved fishing but nothing brought him more joy and fulfillment than showing up for his family and community. He was a mentor, protector, and encourager to many, and his strength left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
On May 31, 2025, the Lord called him home, and he entered into eternal rest. Deacon Carter's life reflected God's grace. His devotion to church, community, and family leaves a lasting legacy of love and faith.
