GENEVA—It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Elaine Brenneman, 76, who left us on August 15, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, with her family by her side. In keeping with Elaine's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
Born on October 21, 1948, in Syracuse, New York, Elaine was a 1966 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in Auburn, New York. Elaine was a woman of remarkable intelligence and possessed a wealth of knowledge on countless subjects. Her natural curiosity and love for learning were evident to everyone she met. Elaine had an undeniable zest for life and embraced every moment with a playful spirit. She loved to dance and was a whiz at Bunco. She loved music, art, and reading. She was a passionate advocate for animal welfare and found joy in nurturing her garden.
Elaine was known for creating beautiful, delicious meals for her loved ones, and her cooking was a hallmark of her love. Her warm presence and infectious laugh made her the center of any gathering. She had a unique ability to make anyone smile, and her personal motto, "Got to keep moving," was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Elaine's love and light will be deeply missed by her family, including her sons Dr. Mark Albert (Dr. Andrea) Murmer of Melbourne, Florida, and Aaron Karl (Shannon) Murmer of Seneca Falls, New York. She is also survived by her loyal and loving partner of 47 years, Jerome Spina of Geneva, New York, and her sister Carole Anne Brenneman of Charlotte, North Carolina. She was predeceased by her parents, Albert Carl Brenneman and Catherine (Higgins) Brenneman.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff at Geneva General Hospital and the wonderful caregivers at Geneva Living Center North for their exceptional care and compassion.
