Carol A. Yunits
Carol A. Yunits, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, November 19 peacefully at home with family by her side.
The Yunits family invites you to join them for a celebration of life mass in her honor to be held at Our Lady of Peace Geneva (St. Francis DeSales) on Saturday, December 6 at 10:00 a.m. Immediately following the mass, Carol will be entombed at St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum (Geneva).
Carol was born in Geneva, N.Y. on February 25, 1952. She graduated from DeSales High School in 1970 and received her undergraduate degree in Mathematics at Potsdam in 1974. Carol became a math teacher (grades 7-12) and then decided to pursue a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from The University of Dayton in 1981. After graduating from the University of Dayton, Carol went on to Syracuse University where she received her master's degree in electrical engineering in 1985.Carol worked at the General Electric Aerospace division and spent six months working in Paris, France. She also spent years working at BAE Systems and retired from there in December 2009. Over the years she worked on the Stealth Bomber and Apache Helicopter systems. As a female in a field dominated by men, she had to be a tough woman, and she definitely was that.
Her fondest memories were of living in Paris, taking all her nieces and nephews to Walt Disney World, "midnight runs" to grocery stores, casino trips, wine and beer tours, golfing and bowling. Carol loved vacationing in Florida and Key West and spending time with her family.
Carol is survived by her mother, Eleanor (Acquilano) Yunits of Geneva, N.Y.; sister Patricia (Yunits) Yannotti (Gary Castine) of Canandaigua, N.Y.; brothers John W. Yunits Jr. (Julia Karnes) of Fairport, N.Y. and Frank Yunits Sr. (Cathy Povero) of Geneva, N.Y. and brother-in-law Steve Myer of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; 12 nieces and nephews and 11 grand nieces and nephews.
Carol is predeceased by her father John W. Yunits, Sr. and her younger sister Joanne (Yunits) Myer.
