RUSSEL R. BIXLER

February 5, 1933 – January 5, 2026

Russel R. Bixler, 92, died at Huntington Living Center on Monday, January 5, 2026. He was the son of Roy and Margaret Bixler and was born February 5, 1933, living his entire life in the Geneva area. Per his request, there will be no calling hours or memorial service. Burial will be at a future date.

He served in the U.S. Air Force in the early 1950's, spending time in Alaska. He enjoyed motorcycle riding in his younger days and was a skilled wood carver of birds and wildlife. He worked for many years and retired from the Town of Geneva Highway Department as a heavy equipment operator.

He was the last charter member of the volunteer White Springs Fire Association in the Town of Geneva. He helped establish the fire department in 1957, and was a member for nearly 70 years. Prior to entering the nursing home, he would stop at the fire station almost every day to check in.

Russel is survived by a niece, a great niece and great nephew, and friends from the White Springs Fire Department.

He was predeceased by his wife, Betty, his parents, and siblings Harold, Lester, and Lucile.
