GENEVA- Mary Jane Melito, 90, passed away on Saturday (April 11, 2026) in her home surrounded by her family. Family and friends may call from 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Friday (April 17) at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC, 28 Genesee Street, Geneva. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow calling hours at 10:30 am at St. Francis De Sales Church, Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Mausoleum.


Mary Jane was born on January 25, 1936 in Ithaca, NY and was a daughter of the late Eugene and Aquilina (Massa). beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy rooted in love, family, and tradition.


A proud Italian matriarch, she was known for her warmth, generosity, and the joy she found in bringing her family together. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where she lovingly prepared meals for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—ensuring that no one ever left her table without feeling cared for.


She treasured time spent with her family, especially during the summer months when she could often be found sitting beneath her grapevine, surrounded by those she loved most. She was a dedicated member of her community, serving as President of the Italian Club in Geneva and President of the Rosary Society. Through her leadership and faith, she made a lasting impact on those around her. She will be remembered for her strength, her devotion to family, and the traditions she so lovingly carried on. Her presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.


She was survived by her sons Joseph Melito of Seneca Falls and Michael Melito of Geneva; daughters Jeannie (Frank) Minisci of Rochester and Tina Gentner of Waterloo; sisters Joanne Haers of Phelps and Phyllis Lowery of Geneva; grandchildren Melissa (Joe) DelBuono, Frank (Mikayla) Minisci, Amanda (Rick) Parisi, Christina (Michael) Carr, Jack (Johnna) Gentner, Meghan Gentner, Nicholas (Haley) Gentner; great grandchildren Violet, Jack and Dean Gentner, Giovanni and Vincent Parisi, Claire and Lily Minisci, Nicholas, Christopher and Luella Gentner and Eva Carr; she also survived by her devoted dog, Bella, who was always faithfully by her side.


Mary Jane is predeceased by her husband, Angelo Melito Sr; her son Angelo Melito Jr; her brother Jack Vena, as well as many beloved family members and dear friends.
