Justine C. Furano

Justine Corea Furano, 90, of Fairport, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 26, 2026, with her daughter at her side.

Family and friends may attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am Friday, May 1, at St. Jerome's Church, 207 Garfield St., East Rochester, NY 14445. Private entombment at St. Mary's Mausoleum in Geneva, NY.

Born on August 13, 1935, in Rochester, NY, Justine was the daughter of the late August and Eva (Mauro) Corea. She grew up in East Rochester and was a proud graduate of the East Rochester High School Class of 1953. Following graduation, she attended Rochester Business Institute (RBI) and held positions at several Rochester-area companies.

On September 18, 1965, she married Louis "Spider" Furano of Geneva, NY. The couple made their home in Geneva, where they raised their daughter. Justine worked for many years as the Office Manager for the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce. In this role, she was a welcoming face to seasonal visitors and a vital resource for local businesses through the Chamber's health insurance programs. She retired in 1997.

Justine was active in her faith and community. While living in Geneva, she was a devoted member of St. Francis de Sales Parish, where she later served as a Eucharistic Minister. Upon moving to Victor, NY, she joined St. Patrick's Parish and volunteered her time with the Ontario County Office for the Aging.

Most recently, Justine resided at Solstice Senior Living in Fairport. She cherished this final chapter, where she reconnected with fellow "East Rochesterians", served as an "ambassador" welcoming new residents and enjoyed a vibrant social life filled with Bingo and community events.

Justine was predeceased by her husband, Lou, and her sisters, Mary (Glenn) Hoff, Anna (Victor) Dianetti, and Katherine (Edward) O'Brien.

She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, LuAnn (Ken) Picciano; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and a wide circle of dear friends gained throughout her life's journey. She held a special place in her heart as "Aunt J" to Judith (Thomas) Guarino, Leo (Linda) Dianetti, Paul (Elaine) O'Brien, and Kara (Bart) LaGrassa.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Arthritis Foundation or a charity of one's choice in Justine's memory.
