Robert T. Potter 05/09/1945-06/26/2026 Pete's journey ended with his family by his side on June 26th, 2026. At Pete's request, funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Pete was born on May 9th, 1945, in Passaic, New Jersey. He attended Rider University where he received his bachelor's degree in education. Pete and his family relocated to Geneva, New York in 1977. He worked at NYS DDSO in Newark and Canandaigua for more than 30 years and supported individuals facing their own challenges. Pete had an unmatched resilience; he overcame significant obstacles throughout his life. He instilled the same resilience and determination in his sons and grandchildren, pushing them to their potential and successes for which he beamed with pride. After his most significant setback, Pete became a Spiritual volunteer at F.F. Thompson Hospital when he was able. His time spent volunteering helped immensely with his own recovery from traumatic injuries. Pete strategically planned his days volunteering based on when fresh cookies were delivered to the hospital coffee cart. In addition to his deep love for his sons and grandchildren, Pete also enjoyed lifting weights, cycling, music, computers, many four-legged friends, hazelnut coffee, cheap beer, and junk food. Survived by his sons Jeff (Beth) Potter of Stanley, Andrew (Dawn) Potter of California Maryland, David Heiner of Rochester, Bob (Cindy) Heiner of Pennsylvania Grandchildren: Emilie, Aric, Riley & Skylar Potter, Chris (Jes) Heiner and Mike (Justine) Heiner. Predeceased by his parents Robert W & Geraldine Potter and his wife, Maren. Pete's family would like to thank the staff of the Pines at M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center for the exceptional care over the years. The care and compassion he received was unmatched; the staff became part of his family, which he deeply cared for. Memorial Contributions can be made to M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center (C/O The Pines or Recreational Therapy) or a Humane Society/Pet Rescue of your choice.
