Pastor Emanuel Johnson

Pastor Emanuel Johnson served the Lord for over 60 years until he peacefully went to his heavenly home on December 23, 2017 at the blessed age of 90. Family and friends may call from 8 to 9 a.m. Fri. (Dec. 29), at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Geneva. A funeral service will be at 9 a.m. in the church. Pastor Johnson will be buried at Glenwood Cemetery in Geneva, N.Y, with full military honors and a repast will follow at Mount Olive M.B. Church.

He was born to the late Johnny and Addie Johnson in Lake Monroe, FL on December 11, 1927. Pastor Johnson is also preceeded by his wife Annie Ruth Johnson, his two sisters Lynamae Taylor of Syracuse, N.Y. and Anna Mae Gilley of Sodus, N.Y.

Pastor Johnson attended Morehouse University, served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War, he was the former Mason Grand District Master (District 3) of Syracuse, Elmira, and Utica New York. He was a long time active member of Bellgrove Missionary Baptist Church in Syracuse, N.Y. There he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, vocalist and founder of the Bellgrove Male Chorus. His most loved accomplishment is becoming the Pastor of Mount Olive M.B. Church in Geneva, New York.

Pastor Johnson was an educator at heart, he was kind and soft-spoken, and always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, no matter how big or small. He was a great fishmerman, but best at catching lost souls and teaching them the word of GOD so they can have chance to be saved.

Pastor Johnson is survived by his three children Darrell Johnson of Albany New York, Elton Jay Johnson of Syracuse, NewYork and Bridgette (Joseph) Jordan of El Paso, Texas and his honorary God Son Deacon Gary Porter of Geneva, New York. Pastor Johnson has numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, and neices.

A special thanks to the Mount Olive M.B. Church family for their continuous support over the years. Deacon Gary Porter served as Pastor Johnson's personal assistant/caretaker for over 30 years, your loyalty and love was above and beyond the call of duty. Pastor Johnson's nieces - Barbara Jean Smith and Tangy Smith, your dedicated support, numerous visits and love to your uncle was greatly appreciated.
