GENEVA- Thalia Navarro Tubbs, 65, otherwise known as PeeJay, passed away on Thurs. (Jan. 26), at home. The viewing is from 3 to 5 p.m. Wed. (Feb. 1), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC, 28 Genesee St. Geneva. Services will follow from 5-5:30p.m. A reception will be held after in celebration of her life with the location to be announced as soon as it’s finalized. All family and friends of PeeJay are invited. Beloved daughter of Evangelio Navarro, Thalia was born on Aug. 14, 1957, in Brooklyn, NY. Thalia was a longtime advocate to the community, working within Planned Parenthood, the court system, the hospital, and other local agencies to help all those who she came in contact with. She did a lot with very little for many. She was witness to many of the Geneva community births and eventually witnessed as they had babies of their own. She was a community member, participating in countless community projects, which also included the wooden park in downtown Geneva where her name is engraved in stone. She was a friend and advocate to many families in the greater community and served as a community mother, grandmother, tia, sister, friend, and more. She made a home in the Geneva community for over 35 years, gifting her proud descendants with her legacy. She is survived by her daughter and two sons Velevia Estrada, Vincent Estrada, and Vangie Navarro Mallard. Along with her beloved grandchildren Thalia Cruz, Antonio Siscoe, Eric Moreno, Daniel Burgos, Elijah Estrada, Yahniece Harris, Dontaye Wallace, Layla Estrada, Samantha Estrada, Mia Wallace. Included in her immediate family members are her daughters gifted by God, Daisy Pereria, Arlene Gonzalez, and Nancy Lopez, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren through them. While PeeJay is no longer with us, she also left us the gift of another mother and grandmother, Maria P. Diaz, to who we claim as our own forevermore. She now joins Vangie Abel Navarro in peace as they watch over their younger sisters Yvonne Jackie Navarro and Hebe Navarro. She also now watches over her sisters, nephews, and nieces (too many to be named) gained through God who became more than family but also as part of her tribe.
