She was raised in Geneva, New York. She graduated from Geneva High School in 1972, and then went on to complete her degrees in Teaching at SUNY Oswego. She furthered her interest in the Spanish language and culture by living abroad for a year in Seville, Spain. Marien then worked as a Spanish Teacher at Geneva High School where she met and married the love of her life, Mike, who also worked for GHS at the time. Together, they lived and loved side by side for over 43 years, and took pride in raising their four daughters. She was their leader, protector, safe haven, confidant, mentor, role model, and everything in between. After retiring from teaching after 33 years at Geneva High, Marien was an active volunteer and community member. She enjoyed cooking, crafting, yoga, playing euchre, bocce, and countless other hobbies with her family and friends. She especially loved traveling, supporting her daughters in sports and the fine arts, and watching the sunsets on Seneca Lake. Above all else, Marien loved being a wife, mother, sister, teacher, and friend. Her friends, family, and students knew her to be full of compassion, warmth, and honesty. Marien was a brave and resilient woman. She was a two-time Breast Cancer survivor, and in remission for 25 years before being faced with a new battle of Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer in May 2022. She fought tirelessly, with courage and grace, remaining positive through the end. Even though she was taken far too soon, she lived a wonderful life of unwavering love and loyalty. Her life was full of adventure, endless amounts of delicious baked goods and meals, constant wit, and a grateful attitude. Marien was truly beautiful inside and out, her personality left a remarkable impression on so many lives. Her smile will never be forgotten. Marien is survived by her beloved husband, Michael; daughters, Marla (Jeff Davids), Mia (Kyle Woodruff), Marisa, and Michele; her best friend and sister, Barbara (Bruce) Davie and her children, Michelle (Andy) Candidori and Brad (Moon) Davie, their children Olivia and Sofia Candidori and Mayson and Brielle Davie; her brother, Robert (Debbie) Oddi, Jr, their son Brian Oddi, and his children Brian Jr. and Alexandra Oddi; her youngest brother Mark (Kelly) Oddi, and their children Alison, Carly, and Mark Oddi, as well as her extended family and many great, lifelong friends.
