Please share a memory of Melissa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Melissa Spearman passed peacefully in her home on April 15th, 2024. Melissa was born on October 29, 1975, to two loving parents: the late Woodrow Spearman and her surviving mother, Mary Evelyn Gaines, both of Panama City, FL. Mary Evelyn Gaines later met and married J.W. Clark of Hazelhurst, MS, who became Melissa's beloved second father. Melissa embodied the best qualities of unconditional love, a humbling spirit, and unending generosity within her profession in the healthcare industry and amongst her family and friends. She had care and compassion like no other in the workplace, with many families and their loved ones across various counties. And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side. Melissa also took great care of her own family and was the go-to person for all gatherings, mastering the art of ordering cakes. Melissa made the best mac and cheese, a fact known by many. Her favorite pastime was watching her grandchildren and her younger nieces and nephews grow and play together. Melissa will always be remembered for her sweet spirit and infectious smile that brightened the lives of all who knew her. She enjoyed watching Judge Judy, cooking channels, and playing any games with friends and family that involved a quarter. Melissa cherished spending time with her sons Desmond, DeOntae, and DyQuise, who were her entire world. Her children gave her strength during the roughest of times and laughter and joy all the time. She enjoyed taking long car rides with her beloved partner Joe Johnson, aka Skeet, and talking on the phone or visiting with her parents. Melissa took immense pride in calling Lonnie and Rob her older brothers, and she cherished the bond they shared. She also cherished the time spent with her sister, Alisha, and was overjoyed when Alisha moved back home. She truly loved and adored her family. Melissa was a ray of light and accepted everyone with an open heart, the best hugs, and a smile to match it all. She had an immense passion for her family, and her departure came as a great shock and a deep wound, gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her. Melissa was predeceased by her father, Woodrow Spearman, her sister, Kimmie Spearman Davenport of Panama City, FL, and long-time soul mate, Joseph "Skeet" Johnson Jr. She is survived by her sons: Desmond Reese, DeOntae Spearman, and DvOuise Spearman-Johnson: daughters: Shaniquia Johnson, Taniquia Johnson, and Shalvah Hendrix: grandchildren: Azarius, Giavanna, Kingston, TaHirah and TvCeon of Geneva, NY; brothers: Lonnie Spearman of Lilburn, GA.
