GENEVA- James. W. "JW" Johnson, 95, passed into the Arms of his Lord and Savior on Thurs. (Jan. 19, 2023), at Strong Memorial Hospital. Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thurs. (Feb. 2), at St. Paul's Full Gospel Baptist Church, 76 E. North St. Geneva. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.

JW was born on Jan. 15, 1928 in Madison, Fla. and was a son of the late Peter and Martha (Paintner) Johnson. He worked for Stenzel Chevy for 37 years. JW was a fireman in Waterloo and a devoted member of St. Paul's Full Gospel Baptist Church. He loved hunting, fishing and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Lovie Gardner; cousins and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

JW was predeceased by brothers, Jonas Brinson, B. Johnson, Limmie Johnson, Willie Johnson, Eddie Johnson, Peter Johnson, T. Bo. Johnson and Fred Johnson; sisters, Martha Freeman, Rosabell Brinson, Nancy Martin and Betty Hudson.
