Obituary of Francis Joseph Hughes

GENEVA- Francis "Frank" Joseph Hughes, Jr., 93, passed away peacefully on Wed. (March 22, 2023), at home, with his loving family by his side. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sat. (June 24), at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, 48 Pulteney St. Geneva. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12 p.m., in the church.
Frank was born on March 8, 1930, in Elizabeth, NJ and was the son of the late Frank and Constance (Agnetti) Hughes. Due to the passing of his mother at a young age, Frank was raised by his late step-mother, Alice (Butler) Hughes. He graduated from St. Mary of the Assumption High School in Elizabeth, NJ. Frank proudly served his country in the National Guard from 1948-56. He went on to follow in his father's footsteps working as a printer for the Daily Journal while attending Seton Hall University. After graduating from RIT School of Printing in 1963 they moved to Geneva, where he worked for W.F. Humphrey Press, later becoming Vice President. Frank was a member of the Watchung Ski Club, where he met the love of his life, Monique Leclair. As an avid skier, he enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren how to ski. Frank served on the board of trustees for DeSales High School, was past president of the Kiwanis Club, a member of the Geneva Rod and Gun Club, Geneva Senior Bowling League and Our Lady of Peace Parish. He loved to visit the Adoration Chapel at St. Stephen's Church.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Monique (Leclair) Hughes of Geneva; children, Linda (Robert DiDuro) Hughes Combs of Geneva, Francine (Andy) Ronan of Long Island, Patricia Hughes of Geneva, Michele (Paul) Delgadillo of Germantown, MD and Joseph Hughes of Jackson Hole, WY; sisters, Dorothy Burd of NJ and Valerie (Clair) Flinn of NJ; brother-in-law, Andre Leclair of Montreal; grandchildren, Danielle (Chris) Dutcher and Shannon (Michael) Fults, Séan and Claire Ronan, Nikki and Emmah Rogers, Alec and Alyssa Delgadillo; great grandchildren, Michael and Colin Fults, Quinn, Delaney and Taryn Dutcher; several nieces and nephews and many special friends.
Frank was predeceased by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in law.
