Thoughts and prayers to the family. I knew Jimmy growing playing our pickup football games and at the pool hall. Rip Jimmy!

I am so sorry to learn of Jimmy's passing. We used to work for Artie Palmieri at his corner store in Geneva, covering the register when Art had to run errands. Jimmy was funny and intense at the same time. His love for DeSales High School was only surpassed by his love of his family. Please accept my condolences.

Q: What was James's favorite recipe?
A: my dad loved making his pasta sauce, nobody could ever make it like him, although instead of the pasta and sauce i always wanted butter noodles, he always made it for me like that no matter how much time he spent cooking meatballs, sauce, sausage, and more. he knew exactly what i liked❤️

Q: What will you never forget about James?
A: Jimmy taught me one of the most important qualities for being an effective leader - having the grace to let your staff be successful, even if that means letting them boss around the boss.
I worked for Jimmy at Cousin's when I was in high school. Jimmy took the food orders and made the pizzas. I cooked all the other food! Subs and wings and lots of them! Two fryers, a flattop and a sub station. One particularly busy night, Jimmy came back to my area, where I was working on so many orders that my hair was on fire, with a thick stack of new orders. He looked me straight in the eye and said, "Don't worry about this." Then he said, "Tell me what you need me to do."
I started ordering him around his own restaurant. I was 17. Just a kid. A lot of bosses and business owners would have taken control. Not Jimmy. He trusted me and I felt trusted, and more importantly, respected. We got through the orders without a snag.
I carried that lesson throughout my career. When I became a supervisor and then a manager, the control-freak in me often wanted to micromanage. But Jimmy was always there telling a 17-year old kid, "Tell me what you need me to do."
Jimmy was good man, a mentor, and I'm so grateful he was part of my young life. I will never forget him.
