Thomas V. LeFebvre Obituary

Thomas V. LeFebvre, born March 2, 1934, to Mary and Victor LeFebvre of Lake Placid, NY, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2023 at the age of 89. Tom graduated from Lake Placid High School and then St. Lawrence University. Tom served in the US Army from 1956 through 1958 and was stationed in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

Tom started his civilian career at General Electric where he was hired by, and eventually married, Edythe, his wife of 59 years. In addition to his paying job, he also coached his kids in Little League baseball, was an avid downhill skier and long-time coach of the Labrador Mountain Ski Club racing team.

The highlight of his career was when GE loaned him to the US Olympic Committee for two years where he served as the Alpine Operations Director of the XIII Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid in 1980. That ‘job' entailed coordinating all of the alpine skiing events at Whiteface Mountain during the 1979 World Cup as well as the 1980 Olympic Games. In his spare time, Tom enjoyed bowling, golf and skiing as well as playing Grandpa to his 6 grandkids.

Tom was predeceased by his parents and wife Edie (2021).

He is survived by his older brother, Richard (Jeanne, d.), their four children, Michael, Cathy (James, d.) LeBeau, Mark, and Steven; six grandchildren, Theresa, Rebecca, Steven, Andrew, Kaylee, and Matthew; and one great-grandson, Christopher John.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
