I have such fond memories of Grandma aka Gummy! She was fun, smart, a great listener and had a story or bit of wisdom to share at every turn. Once she and Popeye moved upstate to their dream home on the lake, it became a beloved place for the whole family to gather. Summers were spent splashing in the lake, running around the orchard, thrilling rides at Darien Lake, where Gummy never turned down a ride on the Ferris wheel, and cuddling up on their couch with tea and cookies at the end of the day. I don’t think I could’ve asked for a better childhood experience.
I’m so grateful to have known you, learned from you and loved you. Thank you for the memories and save me a seat wherever you are. Hopefully, with a big bowl of your spaghetti with meat sauce there too.
