Josephine Ann Acquesta GENEVA – Josephine Ann Acquesta, 95, passed away on March 3, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Friends may call on Friday, (March 8), from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home, 28 Genesee Street, Geneva, N. Y. 14456. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, (March 9), at 10 a.m. at St. Stephens Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Josephine, known as Josie, was born on March 12, 1928, in Geneva and was the daughter of the late Frank and Carmela Sindoni Bertino. She attended St. Francis Grammar School and graduated from DeSales High School with honors in 1945. She worked as an administrative assistant at Sharon Optical and after many years retired from Geneva General Hospital admissions department. Always wishing to explore new opportunities, Josie then worked as a loan manager at Geneva Federal Savings and Loan Bank. Josie married Edmund Acquesta on May 7, 1949, and the couple were married and deeply in love for sixty-two years until Ed passed in 2011. Josie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She loved baking, sewing, embroidery, singing, gardening, and doting over her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. In retirement, Josie and Eddie traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe. They also spent many winters vacationing in Florida and visiting their children and grandchildren in North Carolina and Georgia. Josie will be remembered for her out-going personality, her kind heart and dedication to her family. She will be sadly missed. Josie is survived by four children, Michael (Carole) Acquesta of Raleigh, N.C. Edmund (Juanita) Acquesta of Alpharetta, Ga., Laurence (Shirin) Acquesta of Cary, N.C., Christine (Brent) Toner of Geneva. Josie is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Eric Wolf, Jessica (Brian) Townley, Christopher (Casey) Toner, Daniel (Shana) Toner, Elizabeth Toner (Amanda), Julie (Jonathan) Quigley, Elizabeth (Kalib) Mata, Robert Acquesta, Brian (Erin) Acquesta, Valerie Acquesta and Colston Acquesta; thirteen great-grandchildren Caitlin, Gracie and Abigail Quigley, Lauren and Kevin Townley, Liam and Emile Toner, Josie and Natalie Toner, Audrey, Ethan, David and Diana Mata. She is survived by her sister, Katherine Liberio and her sister-in-law Vinnie Salone of Geneva. Josie was predeceased by her husband Edmund; her son David; sisters Mary Bertino, Rose (Dominic) Mantell, Frances (Donald) Mathis; brother Joseph (Mary) Bertino; and brothers-in-law, Alfred Liberio, Angelo Acquista and John Salone.
