James V. McCann, Jr.

GENEVA-James V. McCann, Jr. passed away Wed. (March 13, 2024) at the Geneva Living Center with his loving, devoted daughter, Mary Jo, at his side. Friends may call Mon. (March 18) from 4 pm to 6 pm at Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC, 28 Genesee Street, Geneva. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tues. (March 19) at 10 am at St. Stephen's Church, Geneva. A burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Jim was born in Geneva, NY and was the son of late James V. McCann and Fredericka (Burton) McCann. He graduated from St. Stephen's School in 1940 and De Sales High School in 1944, then joined the US Army from 1945 to 1946. Jim went to Freeman Business School and Rider College in Trenton, NJ and received his CPA Degree. He worked for Geneva Forge, Agway and NYS Department of Taxation and Finance in Rochester. Jim retired from NYS Department in 1981 and started his own Tax preparer and accounting Business in Geneva until 2012. He was a member of National Association of Tax Professional, Ontario Republican Committee, CSEA Union out of Albany, and an active member at St. Stephen's church.

He is survived by his daughter Mary Jo Smith; son James V. (Linda) McCann III; grandchildren Kimberly Stevens, Christopher McCann, Bryan (Jackie) McCann and Katherine Beckwith; great grandchildren CJ Stevens, Alex, Joe, Carter and Spencer Sindoni, Rylynn and Charlee McCann, Destiny Altoro, Austin Beckwith, Ava and Thomas Snowball; daughter-in-law Lynda McCann; several nieces and nephews.

Jim is predeceased by his wife Mary (Horr) McCann; son Charlie McCann; granddaughter Sara Jo Snowball; brother Frank (Patricia) McCann; son-in-law Al Smith.
