I am grateful for my years working with Karen at Waterloo. She was a nurturing, supportive, and caring professional who helped so many students graduate through her efforts working with students. She never gave up on any student and believed in them. She was also an advocate for her colleagues as a union representative and I very much appreciated her open and honest communication. We were all fortunate to know her and to have called her a friend and colleague. Sincere condolences to all who knew and loved her.

Karen, Melinda, our daughter, Leslie and Lanny and I have shared a deep friendship since Melinda’s college days. “Family” is more accurate a word, sharing laughter and tears, and the growing of our families. Knowing the Ditzell’s have enriched our lives immeasurably. With heartfelt grief, we say goodbye to Karen, knowing her warmth and goodness will never leave our souls.
