Melissa Linzy Archie, 58, beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many, passed peacefully on May 2, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. She will always be remembered for her infectious smile that revealed her amazing dimples that everyone loved. Born December 26, 1965 in Los Angeles, CA to parents Zelmeta Dunham and Richard Linzy Sr., Melissa was the 5th of 6 children. Growing up in a large family, being surrounded by loving, compassionate, and caring people, Melissa could only take those principles into her own life and passionately pursued a career in medicine. She began her career as a Surgical Nurse in Syracuse, NY, while eventually traveling to Buffalo, NY, and finally Rochester, NY where she continued her journey into the medical field. While residing in Rochester, Melissa worked as a Medical Courier, before transitioning to a more corporate position working in Direct Care as a 1:1. Melissa was a very generous and giving person, who gave her all to anything and anyone she believed in, work was no exception. Melissa also gave of herself to her love for music, as she was a member of the SAMMY Award winning gospel group, JPCE. To know Melissa is to know that she loved her family fiercely. She was a proud g-ma. She was a great mentor to her nieces and nephews. She was known to say what she means and mean what she said. To the family, Melissa was the queen of entertaining. From the delicious food prepared, right down to the roaring laughter shared through her witty conversations, a great time was always had, knowing Melissa was there. She will be deeply missed. Melissa is survived by her son, Darren Wagner, granddaughter, Izabella Rose Wagner, mother, Zelmeta Dunham, siblings, Richard Linzy Jr., Kevin Linzy, Deirdre Ware, Lori Williams, and Stephanie (David) Garrison, a host of nieces and nephews, family, and friends. She's preceded in death by her father, Richard Linzy Sr., grandmothers, Victoria Northup Linzy and Charlotte Minnie Dunham, grandfather, Raymond Dunham, William Dowdy, and loving pets, Pico and Sheba.
