Vincent "Vince" J. Ficcaglia, 89, passed away peacefully June 27, 2024 in the comfort of the Pathway Home in Seneca Falls surrounded by his loving family. In honoring his family's wishes there will be no calling hours. A Christian Burial Mass will be on Wednesday, July 3rd at 10 am at Saint Francis DeSales Church in Geneva, NY followed by a burial service at Glenwood Cemetery. Vince was born on October 25, 1934 to Carmelo and Lena Ficcaglia of Geneva. Vince was the second of three siblings. He graduated from DeSales High School and later in his life he graduated from the Community College of the Finger Lakes, now FLCC in 1983 with a business degree. Vince started his long retail career by working at the A & P Food Market in Geneva. Then he decided to enlist in the Army and he served time in the Korean War Era. He also served in the Army National Guard for 17 year as a Platoon Sergeant with a rank of Sergeant 1st class. While serving in the National Guard he was activated for the Rochester riots and Corning floods. In 1957, he met the love of his life Virginia (Church) and they were married in 1959. They were blessed with three children, Valerie (Ron) Wilkie, Vincent Ficcaglia Jr., and Vernon (Michelle) Ficcaglia. He began working with his wife and father in law, Francis A. Church at F.A. Church Inc. for 65 years and then eventually becoming co-owner with his wife Virginia. He enjoyed managing the store and working with this entire family including his children until retiring and closing the store in 2018 at the age of 83. He was well known for going above and beyond to help his customers solve their hardware or plumbing needs. Even going to the back of the store to his work bench to fix things himself for his customers. Vince was not only a hard worker, he served his community as a three time past president of the Kiwanis Club of Geneva and a past board members of the Salvation Army. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion and the NRA. He also loved to hunt and fish with his sons, friends and relatives. After retiring, he enjoyed visiting Water St. Café for his morning coffee. When he returned home he would love to work on his word search puzzles and spending time with his wife and family. Vince leaves behind his wife of 64 years (almost 65 years) Virginia (Church) and his three children. Also his grandchildren Rebecca and Tyler Wilkie, Rachel (Nick) Raplee and Giana Ficcaglia, his great granddaughter Harper Miller, brother Joseph (Linda) Ficcaglia, sister Josephine Tanner, sister in law Patricia (Ronald) Telarico and brother in law Thomas Venterea. Also several nieces and nephews. Vince is predeceased by his parents, a sister, several aunts and uncles and a niece. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pathway House, 1529 Route 414, Seneca Falls, NY 13148 and our Lady of Peace Parish 130 Exchange St. Geneva, NY 14456.
