GENEVA- John Joseph Acquilano, Sr. 88, passed away on October 16, 2024 in Geneva General Hospital after a brief illness. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday (November 9) at St. Francis De Sales Roman Catholic Church in Geneva. Burial immediately following in Oaklawn Cemetery, Pre-Emption Road, Geneva. John was born on February 11, 1936 and was the son of the late Francis and Alice (Church) Acquilano. After marrying his wife Gloria, he resided in Florida for several years where his children were born. He returned to Geneva and was very proud of his hometown where he spent the rest of his life. He enjoyed many years in the home he built on Lyons Road. He owned and operated Geneva Floor Covering for 40 years and was a skilled contractor. He enjoyed square dancing with Gloria, cooking his Italian specialties, and raising his chickens. He is survived by his three children; daughter, Julie (Bob) Fischer of Fairfax, VA, son, John Acquilano, Jr of Geneva, NY, daughter, Janice Acquilano of Pompano Beach, FL; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brother, Rocco (Agnes) Acquilano; sisters, Eleanor Yunits, Elsie Phillips and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his wife Gloria (DiNieri); sister, Loraine (William) Faust, brother Francis (Loretta) Acquilano, brothers in-law John Yunits and Tom Philips.
