From the first time I heard Mary Anne speak in Chautauqua County to her last talk with her Albany staff, she was inspirational. She spoke from her heart.
She sincerely cared about people. She listened carefully to each person with whom she met and understood the problem or issue of concern. She then moved to action ...and accomplished great things often known only by her staff and the people in need.
As a leader she was both incredibly courageous and strong, yet warm and loving...and not afraid to show all of these characteristics. Mary Anne was an energy for good all the days of her life.

My sincere condolences to Lt Governor Krupsak's family & friends at her passing. As former Mayor of Auburn and the first woman-to-date to hold that public office, it's an honor to know she chose Auburn, NY's historic Fort Hill Cemetery as her final resting place. There, Mary Ann Krupsak, NYS's first woman elected to the office of Lt Governor, joins Harriet Tubman and other iconic change-makers of this region who paved the way for women to take their rightful place as leaders in their community, state and country.

Bill Wytrwal posted a condolence

Bill Wytrwal here. Mary Ann and I are first cousins.
There were 7 siblings in the original Wytrwal family spread out over many years. Mary Ann’s mother was on the older side of that family and my father was on the younger side. As a result, Mary Ann was 18 years older than me. Despite that age difference, during the holidays, I was always happy to see her. She always had a radiant, ready smile and - the only way I can say this - sparkling eyes. To me she was immediately engaging and welcoming. So centered. Then she would say “Hey kiddo” in such a familiar way. “What’s new? What are you doing these days?” And she really wanted to know! She had genuine, related follow up questions! As a kid, this was amazing. As a young adult it was soothing. She was interested, never intrusive. Without asking, even as a kid, I was somehow in the club. She valued the family bond.
When she won election as Lieutenant Governor, we went down to NYC for the campaign celebration. It was amazing. Jimmy Breslin walked by! Despite the happy chaos, she came over and greeted me with “Hey kiddo”. And smiled that same radiant smile. We talked. I was still part of the club. She was just so very generous.
