GENEVA- Peter J. Laquitara, 86 passed away peacefully on Sat. (Nov. 30, 2013), at the Homestead in Penn Yan. In honoring his wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held in the spring at Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Contributions may be directed to the Boy's and Girl's Club of Geneva P.O. Box 166, Geneva, NY 14456. Peter was born on Dec. 10, 1926 in Geneva and was a son of the late Joseph and Jennie (Viola) Laquitara. He is a graduate of De Sales High School. Peter served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He worked construction for the Local Union # 103 for many years. Peter enjoyed collecting coins, watching Sci-Fi movies and was considered a "Trekkie". He was a member of the Sons of Italy and St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Geneva. He is survived by his wife, Janice (Morlang) Laquitara of Geneva; sons, Aaron (Linda) Laquitara of Waterloo and James Laquitara of Geneva; grandchildren, Alexander Laquitara and Shelby Laquitara; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Peter was predeceased by his brothers, Patrick Laquitara, Frank Laquitara and Joseph Laquitara; sister, Rose Noone.
