Eunice J. Phoenix GENEVA- Eunice J. Phoenix, 86, passed away peacefully on Sun. (March 16, 2014), at the Geneva Living Center South. Friends may call from 4p.m. to 7 p.m. Wed. (March 19), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC 28 Genesee St. Geneva. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Thurs. (March 20), at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Geneva. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Eunice was born on Feb. 20, 1928, in Geneva and was a daughter of the late Dominick A. and Michaelina (Gerace) Calabrese. She worked at Acme Markets for 27 years, was an Election Inspector for 13 years, worked at Sears Roebuck and was a telephone operator at Sampson Air Force Base for the government. Eunice belonged to the Red Hat Society, St. Anthony Society, Catholic Daughters, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary Post 396, where she volunteered to support the troops overseas, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post 2670 and she volunteered at the V.A. in Canandaigua wrapping gifts for the veterans and mailing them to their loved ones. She was a member of the Woman's Club, Senior Citizens of Geneva and St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Geneva. Eunice loved to play Bingo and Farkel. She was an avid bowler with the Senior Bowling League at Sunset Lanes and enjoyed Euchre Club on Fridays with her friends, Carol Castaluzzo, Allie VanGordon, Joan Saxton, Teresa Caravita, Annie DeMaria, Virginia McQuillan and Barbara Wheeler. She is survived by her daughters; Michaela 'Mickey' (David) Spruill of Geneva, Deborah (Marty) Thibault of Stanley, Elizabeth Sculli and her family of Geneva; brothers, Ralph (Carmella) Calabrese of Canandaigua, Michael (Gina) Calabrese of Seneca Falls and James (Pauline) Calabrese of Fairport; sister, Antoinette (Thomas) Edgar of Victor; grandchildren, Joshua M. (Jessika VonWald) Thibault, Zachary E. Thibault, Brianna M. Thibault and Meghan C. Spruill; great-grandson, Jaydyn; special friend, MaryJo Thibault; furry companion, Zoey; and several nieces and nephews. Eunice was predeceased by her husband, Jack E. Phoenix; grandson, Aaron C. Spruill; brother, Joseph and his wife Jenny Calabrese; infant sister, Theresa and nephew, Ralph Calabrese, Jr.
