Amelia (Pasqua) Simon GENEVA- Amelia (Pasqua) Simon, 88, passed away peacefully on Wed. (Oct. 3, 2012), at the Geneva Living Center North. In honoring her wishes, there will be no prior calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Fri. (Oct. 5), at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Geneva. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to St. Francis-St. Stephen's School, 17 Elmwood Ave. Geneva, NY 14456. Amelia was born on Feb. 22, 1924, in Geneva and was a daughter of the late Santi and Concetta (Trevi) Pasqua. She graduated from De Sales High School then went on to attend the Auburn Memorial School of Nursing, at Auburn City Hospital. Following graduation, she worked at Geneva General Hospital for over 40 years when she retired in 1984. During war years (1942-1945), she enrolled in the Civilian Nurse Corps in support of the US effort during WWII. Following her retirement, she became an active participant in community based activities. She volunteered at the Geneva Center of Concern, the Geneva Women's Club, Geneva Senior Citizens and the Ladies Red Hat Club. She was an active organizer in the clubs with arts & crafts, trips, and the card clubs. She was a force to be reckoned with when playing her favorite card game of Euchre. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Francis Parish in Geneva, NY. Her faith is what guided her love and sharing all her life. She was a woman of action and the first to jump in to help the needy. She is survived by her husband, William A. Simon of Geneva; her sister, Frances (Jim) Mastin of Syracuse; her brother, Louis Pasqua of Geneva; her children, Julia (Donald) Guerrieri of Geneva; Michael Simon of Geneva, William (Patricia) Simon of Clifton Springs, Christine (Ralph) Lyman of Henrietta; Edward (Penny) Simon of Phelps, and numerous nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Amelia was predeceased by her parents, Santi and Concetta Pasqua; her brothers, Jack and Lawrence Pasqua and daughter-in-law, Lynn Simon.
