Obituary of Roger L. Williams

GENEVA-Roger L. Williams, 52, passed away suddenly on Sat. (July 19, 2014) at Geneva General Hospital with his family at his side. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wed. (July 23) at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home, LLC, 28 Genesee Street, Geneva. His funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thurs. (July 24) at St. Paul's Full Gospel Baptist Church, 76 E. North Street, Geneva. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Roger's memory to The Roger Williams Memorial Scholarship c/o AAMA, P.O. Box 98, Geneva, NY 14456. Roger was born April 7, 1962 in Sanford, FL and was the son of Carrie (Stokes) Williams and the late Charlie Williams, Sr. He graduated from Geneva High School in 1980. Roger went on to SUNY Old Westbury, where he received his B.S. in Business Management in 1985. He worked for NYSEG for 27 years, most recently as a Key Account Manager. Roger was a member, treasurer and past president of African American Men's Association (AAMA), NAACP, NYSBUA (Umpire's Association District 5 baseball), Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Greater Rochester as a mentor, and Finger Lakes Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 823. He enjoyed cooking, especially grilling, fishing, golfing and camping. Roger found the most joy when spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by all. Roger is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Bonnie (Mann) Williams of Geneva; mother Carrie Williams of Geneva; brothers Charlie (Mary Louise) Williams, Jr. of Webster, Donald J. Williams of Bronx, Ronnie D. Stokes of Houston, TX and Ted Williams of Syracuse; sisters Lillian (Sam) Collins of Geneva and Gwen (Lee) Collins of Geneva; sisters-in-law Vicki Reeder of Geneva, Donna Belanger of Geneva and Linda (Jay) Langley of Ovid; a host of nieces and nephews who he inspired and mentored throughout their lives and who looked up to and admired him. He is predeceased by his father Charlie Williams, Sr. and sister Barbara Johnson
