Blanche Ernestine Randall VanAlstyne GENEVA- Blanche Ernestine Randall VanAlstyne of Geneva, departed this life on September 10th, 2014. Remains rest at Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home, 28 Genesee Street, Geneva, NY where the family will receive friends, Friday, September 19th, 2p.m.-4p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 20th, 10 a.m. at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church 70 Clark Street, Geneva, with the Reverend Golden officiating. Viewing will be immediately prior to service. The interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery of Phelps. She was born on August 14, 1920 in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania where she attended public school before moving to Geneva, New York where she studied to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She completed her studies, graduating top of her class, at the Marion S. Whalen Nursing School and immediately launched her career as the Head Nurse on the Maternity Ward of the Geneva General Hospital. Blanche was the first child born to the late William and Lillian Marie Murry Randall. She is survived by nine children, Sandra (Reynolds) Harrison, Frederick Reynolds, Edith (Jackson) Gbadeyanka, Randy Jackson, Phillip Jackson, Gladys (Jackson) McKenzie, Lynn (VanAlstyne) Harris, Lynda VanAlstyne, and Robert VanAlstyne, Jr. She also leaves behind two sisters, Edith Kibler and Marie DeLige; one brother, Linford Randall, Sr.; three generations of grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren, other family and friends. Her church membership includes Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, First Love Church in Geneva, and Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Greenwood, SC. She was preceded in death by her brothers William and Gerald Randall; and her sister Marietta Jones.
