Obituary of Joseph A. Bertino

Joseph 'Tiger' A. Bertino WATERLOO/GENEVA- Joseph 'Tiger' A. Bertino, 82, passed away on Thurs. (Oct. 16, 2014), at Geneva General Hospital, with his loving family by his side. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Sat. (Oct. 18), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC 28 Genesee St. Geneva. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m., in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waterloo. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Contributions in Joe's name may be directed to the St. Francis and St. Claire Parish 25 Center St. Waterloo, NY 13165. Joe was born on July 6, 1932, in Geneva, and was a son of the late Antonio and Antonia (Giamis) Bertino. He graduated from Geneva High School and then served his country in the United States Army. Joe was a hard worker and spent most of his career in retail. He owned and operated the Waterloo Liquor Store for many years and was very active in the community. Joe enjoyed working outside in his vegetable garden, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. He was a member of Lions Club and the St. Francis and St. Claire faith community. Joe will always be remembered as the "kindest man you'll ever meet". He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Cathie (Morlang) Bertino of Waterloo; daughter, Kellee (Frank) Passante of Saugerties, NY; son, Brian Morrin of Boise, ID; grandchildren, Ryon C. Morrin, Daniel Joseph Passante and Grace C. Morrin; several nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his siblings, Philly Bertino Cannuli, Frank Bertino, Molly Antenucci, Angelina Certano and Josephine White.
