Viola M. Lynd GENEVA/ROCHESTER- Viola M. Lynd, 97, passed away peacefully on Thurs. (Nov. 13, 2014), at Kirkhaven Nursing Home in Rochester, with her loving daughters by her side. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Mon. (Nov. 17), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC, 28 Genesee St. Geneva. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tues. (Nov. 18), at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Geneva. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to be directed to Lifetime Care Hospice 3111 South Winton Rd. Rochester, NY 14623. Viola was born on April 13, 1917, in Erie, PA and was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Rebecca (O'Dowd) Casey. She resided in Geneva from 1943 to 2001 before moving to Rochester to be closer to her daughters. Viola attended the Buffalo School of Nursing in 1939 and became a Registered Nurse, working at Buffalo General Hospital, Taylor Brown Hospital in Waterloo and Geneva General Hospital. She was a perfect mother, selfless, loving and caring. Her family was everything to her. Viola enjoyed cooking, baking and reading and was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish in Geneva. The family would like to acknowledge Viola's devoted caretaker, Liz Gordon, who was always by her side. She is survived by her daughters, Peggy (Michael) Caplan of Pittsford and Judy (Frank) All of Newark; twin sister, Violet M. Cunningham of Merced, CA; grandchildren, Michelle, Mary Ann, Marcey DeSio and several nephews. Viola was predeceased by her husband, Charles Lynd in 1994 and her brother, Martin Casey.
