Obituary of Nina Marie Palmer

GENEVA- Nina Marie Palmer, 89, passed away Wed. (Dec. 3, 2014), at the Seneca Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Waterloo. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tues. (Dec. 9), at Faith Community Church in Geneva. Contributions may be directed to a charity of ones choice in Nina's memory. Nina was born in Border City, on April 27, 1925, and was a daughter of the late Francesco and Ascenza (D'Amico) Venterea. She was employed during World War II at the Andes Range, making gas tanks for airplanes. Nina worked at Walgreens on Seneca St. from 1946-49. She was also employed for 3 years at The Forge in Border City making Silverware, and Hulse Manufacturing for 40 years until it closed, along with being employed in the caf at Hobart and William Smith Colleges for 17 years. She was a volunteer at the Smith Opera House and the Waterloo Premium Outlet Mall. Nina was a member of Geneva Senior Citizens and Faith Community Church in Geneva, and was associated with Geneva Appleknockers Jr. Drum and Bugle Corps. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending family reunions, cooking, reading, playing cards and traveling. She is survived by her son Warner M. "Butch" (Linda) Palmer III of Fayette; two Grandchildren, Robin (Steve) McElligott of Rochester, and Jason(Jessica) Palmer of Geneva; three Great-Grandchildren, Seth Palmer, Shannon and Ryan McElligott; brother, Tom Venterea, of Leominster, MA; sister, Grace Destefano of Solvay and several nieces and nephews. Nina was predeceased by her husband, Warner M. "Bud" Palmer, Jr., in 1982; brothers, Orlando and Janetto "Butch" Venterea; sisters, Matilda Missilli, Josephine Balistreri, Elsie Albright and Ruth Kayn. Nina's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Finger Lakes Health, Rochester General Hospital, and Life Time Care Hospice for the wonderful care that they provided.
