Obituary of Helen L. Waddell

Helen L. Waddell ROMULUS- Helen L. Waddell, 88, passed away peacefully on Thurs. (June 11, 2015), at home. In honoring her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Glenwood Cemetery. Contributions may be directed to the American Red Cross 83 W Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY 13148, or the Beverly Animal Shelter, 50 E. River St. Waterloo, NY 13165. Helen was born on Jan. 29, 1927, in Syracuse and was a daughter of the late Leon and Gladys (Wyles) Frantz. She worked for over 35 years as a Rehabilitation Therapist at the Willard Psychiatric Center. Helen was an extraordinary woman who enjoyed life on Seneca Lake for 61 years. She had a host of friends and was known as everyone's mother or grandmother. Helen enjoyed entertaining, opening her home to many. She liked playing cards, watching CNN, painting, and cooking big meals, and she was known by her family for the "good potatoes". Above all, Helen cherished the time she spent with her loving family. She is survived by her son, Donald (Doris) Waddell of Phelps; daughter, Karen Ditzell of Romulus; grandchildren, Stephen Kepner of Clyde, Misty (Thomas) Neilson of Rochester, Melinda Ditzell of Romulus and Matthew (Krystle) Ditzell of Rochester; great-grandchildren, Blake, Jolie and Luke Neilson; nieces, Kathleen Cox, Cheryl Hammer and Sandra (Richard) Juarez, all of Del Rio, TX; great-niece, Tiffany Lauderdale; great-nephews, Rhyan and Joshua Juarez; special neighbors, Kevin, Karen, Libby; and her crazy cats. Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband and daughter, John Norman and Linda Jean Waddell.
