WATERLOO- Frederick F. Barry, 80, passed away on Tues. (June 30, 2015). peacefully at home with his family. In honoring his wishes, there will be no prior calling hours. Fred's graveside service is to be held at No. 9 Cemetery later. Please direct contributions in Fred's name to Beverly Animal Shelter 50 E. River St., Waterloo, NY 13165 Fred was born 2/16/1935 in Wilkes Barre, PA and was the son of William Duhart Barry and Mary Minnie (Dorie) Barry. He was the youngest of their 11 children. Fred's father was a coal miner and died of lung disease in 1936 leaving his mother alone to care for the family. During the summers, she would pack up the children and they would come to the Finger Lakes region with other family groups to do the harvesting of fruit and vegetables for the canneries. This was her way of keeping the children out of trouble for the summer to earn a little money. They all liked this area so much that most of the children eventually moved here. Marrying Ruth Campbell from Stanley, NY in 1956, then he served in the US Army Medical Corps 1957 to 1959. In the early years, Fred worked at many jobs including Texaco Diner and Timely Clothes. Eventually he went to International Paper for 33 years retiring there in 1998 He was an animal rights advocate; he loved the outdoors, gardening and his 1975 Triumph Spitfire sports car and car shows. His wife Ruth I. (Campbell) Barry of Waterloo, daughter Gail R. (Lawrence) Reynolds, Grandchildren Jennifer S. Reynolds, and Riot W. Reynolds of Geneva survives him. Uncle Fred also loved his many nieces and nephews his beloved dog Daisy Mae. Ten siblings predeceased Fred; Margaret (George) Kopena in 1999, Clara (Michael) Matello 2012, Rosaleen (William) Gibbons 2012, Josephine (Robert) Spedick 2012, William Agustus Barry 1926, William Alfred (Catherine) Barry 1993, Michael (Jean) Barry 2011, Timothy (Mary) Barry 1997, Mary Elsie ( Salvatore) Ricca 2014, Frederick Inoi Barry 1934.
