Vincent Anthony Augustine GENEVA- Vincent Anthony Augustine, 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at home on Tuesday (June 30, 2015), after a long battle with Myelofibrosis. In honoring his wishes, there will be no prior calling hours. A Christian Burial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Mon. (July 6), at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Geneva. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Vincent was born on April 20, 1936, and was a son of the late Santo and Pauline (DeRaddo) Augustine. He and his wife of 53 years, Giovanna "Norma" kept a modest comfortable home to raise their family, by setting a great example of honest values, teamwork, and devotion as a loving marriage should be. Up to his most recent years, he owned and operated Vince's Lawn and Handyman Service, and knew and demonstrated the value of hard work. Prior to his self proprietorship, he worked at Monj Construction contracted by laborers Local -103 and Geneva Foundry as a Core-maker. In his younger years he worked at F.A. Church, Geneva Bakery Co., Sunoco, and for Paul Bonacci on the Rossi Farm. Vincent loved being outdoors with his family and looked forward to participating in the Lake Trout Derby each year with his son-in-law and grandsons. He enjoyed woodworking, bowling, camping, playing cards and having coffee downtown with the "Guys". His most recent joy was frequenting the casino with his beloved wife, and was always giving and generous to share his winnings with his family and friends, when he was a winner! He was always up on current affairs by watching the news and enjoyed seeing the far reaches of the world in the comfort of his home by watching the Food and Travel Channel. He cherished the company of all his family, especially his grandchildren, and was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Parish and the St. Anthony Society. Vincent was predeceased by his parents and brother Michael Augustine in 1999. Surviving are his wife, Giovanna "Norma" (Rossi) Augustine of Geneva; daughters, Kathleen (Scott) Augustine-Farnett of Baldwinsville and Paula (John) Augustine-Abraham of Geneva; sister, Josie (Benjamin) Mittiga of Penn Yan; grandchildren, Anthony Vincent and Natalie Giovanna Farnett, John Vincent (Anna Wilson), Joseph Raymond and Nicole Kathleen Abraham and many nieces and nephews.
