GENEVA - Shirley Nelson Clay, 74, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tues. (Nov. 30, 2010), surrounded by her loving family at Geneva General Hospital. Friends may call Wed. (Dec. 8) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Paul's Full Gospel Baptist Church, 76 E. North St. Geneva. A funeral service will be held immediately following calling hours at 12 p.m., at the church. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Shirley was born May 4, 1936, in Sanford, FL, and was a daughter of the late Warren and Carrie (Burke) Thomas. She retired from the Canandaigua V.A. Shirley was a member of St. Paul's Full Gospel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sons; Gerald L. (Regina) Nelson of Tampa, FL., Arthur L. Nelson of Sanford, NC., Bernard V. Nelson of Newark and Vaughn E. (Rhonda) Nelson of Geneva; daughter, Darlene Nelson of Augusta, GA.; brothers, Albert (Juanita) Thomas, Gene Thomas, Bernard Thomas, Vernon (Lois) Nelson and Warren (Mary) Thomas; sisters, Rose Golden and Carrie Porter; 21 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Clay in 2004.
