Obituary of John M. Northrop

John Milton Northrop GENEVA - John Milton Northrop, age 74, passed away Fri. (May 20, 2011) at Geneva General Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tues. (May 31) at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home, LLC 28 Genesee St. Geneva. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or the Veterans Association. John was born in Geneva, NY on Feb.18, 1937 to Homer Northrop (deceased), and Ruth Tillotson Northrop, John was a 1955 graduate of Geneva High School. He served in the US Army, and later graduated from Paul Smith's College in New York. John's life took him all over the globe, but he was happy to return to his hometown in Geneva. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Tillotson Northrop of Penn Yan, an uncle, Richard Tillotson of Groton, and an aunt, Lois Whitcomb of Rochester. John was the eldest of his siblings, Robert Northrop of Potsdam, James Northrop of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Richard Northrop of Penn Yan, Thomas Northrop of Tucson, AZ, and Elizabeth Butler of Naples. John had two children, John Earl Northrop of Fort Smith, AR, and his wife Joanne, and a daughter, Kimberly Terrell of Fort Worth, TX, and her husband Richard. John has 4 grandchildren, Janea and Jacob Northrop of Fort Smith, AR, and Grace and Ava Terrell of Fort Worth, TX. John has numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and nephews, and friends that will miss his smile and helpful spirit greatly. John was preceded in death by his father, Homer Northrop, and his wife, Earlene Northrop.
