Edmund Acquesta GENEVA - Edmund J. Acquesta, 85, passed away on Wed. (Aug 3, 2011), at the Geneva General Hospital. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home, LLC, 28 Genesee Street. Geneva, NY 14456. The Sons of Italy will meet at the funeral home at 7 pm and the American Legion Post 396 will meet at 7:30 pm. A funeral services will begin with prayers at the funeral home at 9 am Monday (August 8), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum, with military honors. Contributions may be directed to Our Lady of Peace Parish, 130 Exchange Street, Geneva, NY 14456. Edmund was born March 23, 1926, in Geneva and was a son of the late Michael and Teresa Acquesta. He served his country in The United States Army, 10th infantry regiment 5th division of Patton's 3rd Army, the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of Metz. He was a retiree of NYSEG after 37 years as a chief in the gas division. Edmund was a member of the American Legion, Sons of Italy and St. Stephen's Parish. He was an avid reader, gardener, enjoyed long walks and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Edmund was a devoted, loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed. He is survived by his wife, Josephine (Bertino) Acquesta; children Michael (Carole) Acquesta of Raleigh, NC, Edmund (Juanita) Acquesta of Alpharetta, GA, Laurence (Shirin) Acquesta of Cary, NC, Christine (Brent) Toner of Geneva and David (Imelda) Acquesta of Landenberg, PA; sister, Vinnie Salone of Geneva; grandchildren Eric LionHeartWolf, Julie (Jonathan) Quigley, Elizabeth (Kalib) Mata, Robert Acquesta, Brian Acquesta, Valerie Acquesta, Jessica (Brian) Townley, Christopher Toner, Daniel Toner, Elizabeth Toner, and Colston Acquesta; great grandchild Caitlin Ruby Quigley. Edmund was predeceased by his brother Angelo Acquesta; brothers and sisters-in-law Frances (Donald) Mathis, Joseph (Mary) Bertino, Dominic Mantell, and John Salone; nephew James Mathis.
