Obituary of John Francis DiNardi

John Francis DiNardi GENEVA/PHELPS- John Francis DiNardi, 91, passed away peacefully on Mon. (Nov. 26, 2012), at Vienna Gardens in Phelps. In honoring his wishes, there will be no prior calling hours. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Fri. (Nov. 30), at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church in Geneva. John was born on Jan. 23, 1921 in Geneva, NY and was the son of the late Peter and Angelina (Paul) DiNardi. He graduated from De Sales High School in 1938. John served his country in the United States Army, in WWII, from 1943 to 1945. He was a Staff Sergeant in Engineering in the Pacific Theater, stationed in the Philippines and then New Guinea. John was awarded with the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon, Bronze Star, and the WWII Victory Medal. After the service, he married Kathleen M. MacDonald on Aug. 10, 1946. John received his Bachelor's Degree in business from Niagara University and then went on to graduate from the Willard Nursing School in 1952. He became a registered nurse and worked at the Bath VA and then the Canandaigua VA, where he founded the outpatient program, until his retirement in 1977. He is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Sam) Caito of Geneva, Patricia (Tim) Clark of Peterborough, NH and Kathleen (Gary) Augustine of Waterloo; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathleen (MacDonald) DiNardi and companion, Anne Smith.
