William 'Bill' P. Laquitara GENEVA - William 'Bill' P. Laquitara, 87, passed away Mon. (Feb. 27, 2012), at Geneva General Hospital. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Thurs. (March 1), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home, LLC 28 Genesee St., Geneva. The Waterloo American Legion and V.F.W. will meet at 6:30 p.m. for military honors. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Fri. (March 2), at St. Francis De Sales Roman Catholic Church in Geneva. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Contributions may be directed to Our Lady of Peace Parish, 130 Exchange St. Geneva, NY 14456, or the charity of one's choice. Bill was born May 30, 1924, in Border City, and was a son of the late Antonio and the late Nellie (Legott) Laquitara. He served his country in the United States Army 82nd Airborne from 1943 to 1946, and was a veteran of WWII. Bill worked as an operating engineer for 55 years, employed by H.L. Baughman in Rochester. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, providing everyone with fresh vegetables and playing fast pitch softball as an outfielder for the Border City Fire Dept. Bill was very kind and generous, treating everyone with dignity and respect. He loved his family and friends very much. Bill was an honorary member of the Border City Fire Dept. and St. Francis De Sales Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Irene (Zeoli) Laquitara of Border City; brother, Joseph (Marie) Laquitara of Geneva; sisters, Rosie (Tony) Ciancaglini of Waterloo and Margaret (Peter) Zeoli of Geneva; grandchildren, William 'Bill' Laquitara III, Stephanie Laquitara and Alexander Laquitara; great-grandson, Aiden and many loving nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his son, William 'Bill' Laquitara, Jr., brothers, Jim and Tony Farlo and sister, Catherine Lehman.
