GENEVA - Essie M. McKoy, 56, passed into the Arms of her Lord and Savior on Tues. (March 6, 2012), at home, with her loving family by her side. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tues. (March 13), at the Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home LLC 28 Genesee St. Geneva. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wed. (March 14), at the Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ 21 Milton St. Geneva. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Essie McKoy may be directed to Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ 21 Milton St. Geneva, NY 14456. Essie was born Sept. 28, 1955, in Key West, FL, and was a daughter of the late John Davis Bogan and Henretta (Wells) Chatman. She was a dedicated member of the Mt. Calvary Church of God in Christ, in which she was an usher, a member of the senior choir and the pastoral aide committee. Essie worked at the Geneva High School as a student supervisor. She enjoyed children, visiting the sick, and collecting coupons that she enjoyed sharing with others. Essie had the ability to find a good deal. Among the many organizations she faithfully served, she was also a relentless and devoted member of the Martin Luther King, Jr. committee and the N.A.A.C.P. Essie served as Vice President of the Courtyard Apartments. She is survived by her loving husband, James McKoy of Geneva; mother, Henretta Chatman of Geneva; daughter, Edna (Todd) Reid of Seneca Falls; sons, Joemaine (Amanda) Bogan and Jaquan McKoy, all of Geneva; sisters, Juanita Mallory of Geneva, Mae Frances (Cleveland) Moore of Rochester; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Singletary, Carry McKoy and Kim McKoy, all of Geneva; brother-in-law, Joseph (Leslie) McKoy of Dunkirk; grandchildren, Joemaine Bogan, Jr., Todd Reid, Jr., Jarrin Sgabellone, Jaelen Bogan, Jersey Bogan; life- long friend (sister in Christ), Joyce J. Kenney; dear friends, Gail Porter-Fuller and Doris Myers, a multitude of friends and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her father, Essie was predeceased by her brother, Otis Johns.
