Obituary of Francis J. Tandle

Francis 'Sonny' J. Tandle GENEVA-Francis "Sonny" J. Tandle, Sr., 82, passed away suddenly Thurs. (Oct. 29, 2015), at Strong Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. In honoring Sonny's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. Sonny was born on April 27, 1933 in Geneva and was the son of the late Frances (Tizzano) Tandle and Nicholas Tandle, (stepmother, Antoinette Tandle). In 1990, he retired after 33 years of service as a machinist from American Can Co. Sonny was the president of the International Association of Machinists Local Lodge 1838 for 28 of the 33 years. Sonny was a charter and lifetime member of Northside Fire Co, a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge 2397, a longtime member of the Geneva YMCA and the Silver Sneakers Club. Sonny is survived by his dearest friend, Ann Marie Pitifer and her family; son, Terry (Carol) Tandle of Geneva; daughters, Joyce Tandle and Joan Tandle of Geneva, Patricia (Wade) Dutcher of Phelps and Laurie (Daniel) Margeson of Waterloo; daughter- in-law Mary Jeanne Tandle; sisters, Joan Morabito, Joyce Tandle, Loretta Acquilano, Susan Russo, and Betty Aquino of Geneva; step sister, Frances Duchesne; sister-in-law, Patricia Tandle of Phelps; step brother and sisters in law, Dan (Ann) Laurenza and Marlene Laurenza of Geneva; and brother-in-law Larry (Sharon) Larsen of Penn Yan. He was adored by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife Jean "Pat" (Larsen) Tandle; sons, Michael Tandle, Francis J. Tandle, Jr. and Ted Tandle; sisters, Eleanor Brown and Mary DeYulio; brothers, Louis Tandle and Nicholas Tandle; great-granddaughter, Brittany Passalacqua; step brother, Alex Laurenza.
