Obituary of Charlie Collins

Charlie 'Sam' Collins GENEVA- Charlie 'Sam' Collins, 70, passed into the Arms of his Lord and Savior peacefully on Wed. (March 9, 2016), at Geneva General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. and reflections will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wed. (March 16), in St. Paul's Full Gospel Baptist Church, 76 E. North St. Geneva. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thurs. (March 17), in the church. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Lorraine Y. Sam was born on Sept. 21, 1945 in Sanford, FL and was a son of the late Calvin Collins, Sr. and Birther Galloway. He worked as a paver for Collins Paving in Penn Yan. Sam loved fishing, NASCAR and attending all local sporting events, especially football, gospel music and vacationing with his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Lillian (Williams) Collins of Geneva; sons, Tyrone Collins of Geneva, Reggie (Carmen) Collins of Geneva and Frederick (Renee) Collins of HI; daughters, Lona White of Atlanta, GA and Lorraine (Cleveland III) Moore of Albany; brothers, Dr. Calvin, Jr. (Lottie) Collins of Longwood, FL, Arthur (Leola) Collins of Sanford, FL, Walter (Rosa) Miller of Sanford, FL, Fred (Sharon) Johnson of Pembroke Pines, FL, Lee Norris (Gwen) Collins of Geneva, Roosevelt (Beulah) Collins of Penn Yan, Morris Collins of Rochester and Anthony (Trudy) Collins of Winterville, NC; sisters, Annie Mae Branch of Sanford, FL, Margaret Davis of Sanford, FL, Shirley Woody of Sanford, FL and Dorothy Miller of Rochester; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sam was predeceased by his mother, Birther Galloway; father and step-mother, Calvin, Sr. Elizabeth (Brinson) Collins; brothers, Theodore, Horace and Lloyd Collins; sisters, Sivalrie Riley and Syble Collins Robinson.
