Charles W. Parker GENEVA- The Lord called Charles W. Parker, 82, home on Mon. (March 28, 2016), at Geneva General Hospital. Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Tues. (April 5), at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 70 Clark St. Geneva. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Charles W. Parker was born on August 21, 1933 to the late Jodie & Johnnie Mae Parker in Notasulga, Alabama. He moved to Geneva, New York, in the early 1950's where he met & married Bettye Jean Sims. From their union they had (3) three children Anthony, Charles & Annette. Charles worked for Bero Construction until his retirement. He was a faithful member of Mt Olive Missionary Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon. Deacon Parker was very passionate about his role as a Deacon. Deacon Parker continued to serve as Chairman of the Deacon Board until the Lord called him home. Over the years he served on the Trustee Board, Chairman of the Deacon Board, Singing in the Men's Chorus & Friendship Choir and anywhere else he was needed in the church. Deacon Parker also served faithfully within his community. He held the position of Affirmative Action Officer for the City of Geneva. He was a Community Leader in the forefront in the fight for Civil Rights. He also sat on the Board of The Salvation Army & also served as a Bell Ringer during the holidays. Deacon Parker was a member of The N.A.A.C.P. He held the office of Secretary/ Treasurer in the African American Men's Association. Deacon Parker received numerous awards and certificates from many organizations over the years for his excellence in service and dedication to his family, church and his community. He loved to sing praises to the Lord, and spend time with friends and family laughing and joking. He leaves to mourn, two sons, Anthony (Arlean) Parker of Atlanta, GA, Charles (Bettyjo) Parker of Waterloo, NY; three daughters, Annette (Ron) Flowers of Maryville,TN, Charlesetta Parker-Bostic (Timothy) of Rochester, NY, Patricia (Derrick) Harling of Rochester, NY; three brothers, Horace Parker of Rochester, NY, David Lee Parker of Notasulga, AL, Curtis (Caroline) Parker of Auburn, AL; two sisters Mildred (James) Sampson of Syracuse, NY, Lessie Evans of Notasulga, AL; special niece, Sonya (Greg) Redmond of Oakland, CA; twelve Grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, a host a nieces and nephews; a very special faithful companion, Sis Emma Barnes. Preceding him in Death was his wife of (50) fifty years, Bettye Jean Parker; parents, Jodie & Johnnie Mae Parker; three sisters Arsenia, Robenia & Allie.
