Obituary of Doris Marie Hessney

NAPLES, FL/GENEVA- Doris Marie Hessney 83, of Naples, FL passed away Monday, December 3, 2018 at Avow Hospice. Calling hours will be Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 3pm – 5pm at Palmisano-Mull Funeral Home, 28 Genesee St, Geneva. Trisagion Prayers will be at 4:30pm in the funeral home. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 10 at 10:30am at St. Michaels Orthodox Church, 98 Genesee St., Geneva with burial to follow at Whitney Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in her honor with Alzheimer's Support Network, 660 Tamiami Trail N.Suite 21 Naples, FL 34102. Doris was born April 26, 1935 in Hornell, NY, daughter of the late LeClair and Olene (Harvey) Wheaton. Doris worked alongside her husband Joe for over 40 years running Hessney Family Shoe Store and Hessney's Antiques in downtown Geneva. Doris was involved in the community and an active member of St. Michaels Antiochian Orthodox Church in Geneva and St. Paul Antiochian Orthodox Church in Naples. You could find her taking nightly walks and working out at the YMCA as a Silver Sneakers member. But most of all, she enjoyed being surrounded by her family. Formerly of Geneva, NY, Doris had been a resident of Naples since 2013. She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Joseph Hessney; loving children, Joseph (Roberta) Hessney of Geneva, NY, Jacqueline (Terry Hill)Leshley of Bonita Springs, FL, Judith (Mark Fuchs) Spina of Naples, FL; sisters, Elizabeth Holtz of Geneva, NY, Carol (Bill) Davids of Waterloo, NY; sisters-in-law, Josephine Wheaton and Mary Malark; grandchildren, Matthew (Melissa) Leshley, Jaislee Spina, Carrie Ashley (Tim) Hessney-Doran, Michael (Laura)Leshley, Janelle (Fidel) Hernandez, Jordyn Spina; and great granddaughters, Lucy Rose and Kalaya. She was predeceased by her brother Robert Wheaton.
